MUSINGS: What’s to come in 2014?

More Fashion, More Glamour, More Entertainment - why 2014 is set to be the Year of Plenty?

2013 was something of a purgatory, an in-between place, especially after the global financial meltdown, post which we all (well most of us) have been left gasping for air like someone who has been underwater for far too long. While 2013 did bring us closer to the surface, is 2014 going to breathe life into the downcast and the relinquished? Like the overflowing Cornucopia, is 2014 set to be the Year of Plenty?

Here’s what you can await in 2014:
ART & CULTURE: In the face of aridity, art & culture flourish. 2013 saw many cultural hubs cropping up everywhere, 2014 will only (here's hoping) take this a step further with more culturally-inclined and art-focused events in the pipeline.

ENTERTAINMENT - More movies, more TV series, just like every year! So wait what’s different this ‘New Year’? This is the Year of the Marvel movies with sequels, prequels and debut appearances like The Amazing Spider-Man, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and Guardians of the Galaxy. With the year filled with more movie franchises, my ‘Watch-list’ includes a mix of sequels and non-sequels - Godzilla II, Maleficent (with Angelina Jolie reprising the role of Sleeping Beauty's nemesis) and Interstellar by Christopher Nolan.

FASHION - With the aphorism “less is more” strongly dictating the trends of Spring 2014, the same cannot be said for the Business of Fashion. More takeovers, more acquisitions, more mergers, more up-downs to the stock lines - there is more of everything to watch out for this 2014. What I’m anticipating? Lincoln Centre minus Vera Wang, Carolina Herrera, Diane von Furstenberg and Michael Kors. Intrigued where their “off-site” shows will be!

We can only wait and see how 'plentiful' 2014 will be, but for now it's Goodbye 2013... Goodbye & Good Riddance!
