GRAMMY’S 2014: Red Carpet

With no respite from the dismaying Award season, the fashion choices were yet again a snooze fest! The time when 'experimentation' should’ve been the only key word for the Red carpet, 'caution' seemed to have been the motto. With shimmer and shine, many a celebrities did put forth a fashionable look, but nothing spelled ‘Grammy’s Red Carpet’ quite as much.

Yeah! Beyonce and Jay Z's performance was just aboout the only highlight for me. That and Jay Z's acceptance speech!

From the appearances, our top 10 picks were:

No, you did not miss her walk on the Red Carpet! But perhaps that’s the only reason she stands at #10.

At the Clive Davis pre-Grammy's Gala, RiRi showed off all her tattoos and quite some skin in a fresh off the runway Alexandre Vauthier Spring Couture 2014 dress. The color, the jewellery, the shoes made for quite a perfect ensemble for the gala!

Keeping it safe and simple, yet beautiful was Anna Faris!
Dressed in a midnight blue Fitriani gown paired with a hand harness and beautiful earring matching the color of the gown, the blonde actress looked stunning, albeit boring. If only she had ventured into something more avant garde! Ah well there’s always a next time.

Quite a stylish dresser, Anna Kendrick was all about showing some skin with her fashion choices.
Showing off some leg in the front slit Azarro gown with peek-a-boo bustier top, Kendrick styled the look with side-swept hair, earrings and a cuff - both by Joan Hornig jewels. Great choice and a great look!

#7 - FOXES
Graphical clarity and some British camaraderie by Foxes.
Wearing a black & white print gown by Vivienne Westwood Gold Label, Foxes did manage to stand out on the Red Carpet…extra points for that! The silhouette worked flatteringly well for her petite frame, with the off-shoulder draping adding some Red Carpet-yness to the gown!

#6 - CIARA
Lessons on ‘how to wear print and full-sleeve gowns without looking like wallpaper’ by CIara

The markedly pregnant singer wore a beautiful Emilio Pucci gown with the archetypal Pucci prints. The earthy undertones brought out the radiance in her skin. Keeping the hair tied in a loose bun with flowing strands, pregnancy does her well!

Simple isn’t always boring.

In a gold sequin mermaid-cut Johanna Johnson dress, you would think that Chrissy Teigen would drown in the boredom of it all, but she managed to stand out! Maybe it is being the sexiest woman (well according to GQ anyway) that adds that spunk? Whatever it may be, Chrissy Tiegen’s gown looked perfection, hair braided on the side added a fun touch, and the gold accessories made her look like a golden girl!

Ethereal. Delicate. Angelic.

The country music songstress looked angelic in her Swarovski-studded and tiered Armani Prive gown. The blush tones of the gown complemented perfectly with David Yurman jewels and a loosely tied knot to the hair…every bit a Grecian goddess!

Leather like never seen before.

When I think of a leather dress, I always conjure an image of a dominatrix. Skylar Grey redefined that imagery in a nude-toned perforated leather gown by Michael Costello. With cutouts showing just the right amount of skin (and tattoos), the gown was paired with L'Dezen jewels, and Skylar Grey looked fierce and fabulous!

Style Maven.
Looking like a stunner she is, Taylor Swift looked like perfection in her silver Gucci Première chain-mail gown. Swift contrasted the hard-edge of the gown with soft make-up (I loved the eye work) and gorgeous gorgeous Lorraine Schwartz jewellery. The skyscraper heels pulled the look together all too well!

All hail Queen B!

If there ever was a doubt, it isn’t there anymore - Beyoncé (and Jay Z) are truly the Music Royalty! Dressing her part well (as the Queen B), Beyoncé looked like the perfect embodiment of all that is Grammy - glamour, music and fashion. In her Michael Costello sheer paneled gown, worn with Fisher jewels, she looked like the perfect glamazon!

So which look did you like best?!
