They include a lot of celebrities, a lot of super models, fresh faces, and some snakes!
ALEXA CHUNG FOR LONGCHAMP
For Longchamp’s Spring 2014 campaign, Max Vadukul captures the different moods of Fashion’s ‘It girl’ Alexa Chung (much like the igneous Le Pliage® Cuir handbag and it’s extraordinary foldable design) as she drives around and struts about St Tropez.
Fine nuances tie the product in very beautifully like the vintage Fiat 600 convertible (which I absolutely adore) that subtly hints to the convertibility of the bag, and of course the location that spells easy luxury.
BELLA HEATHCOTE, ELLE FANNING, ELIZABETH OLSEN AND LUPITA NYONG'O FOR MIU MIU
Starring a highly talented quartet of rising new film talent is the Miu Miu Spring 2014 campaign. Captured by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, the young, up-and-coming actors - Bella Heathcote, Elle Fanning, Elizabeth Olsen and Lupita Nyong'o showcase a mash-up of prints, styles, and color pops.
What I love? How each actress portrays a different point of view!
MILEY CYRUS FOR MARC JACOBS
Is that Miley brooding over what her next shocking move should be? Given that she ‘can’t be tamed’ it’s quite a possibility as she’s sits pretty and pensive for the Marc Jacobs Spring 2014 campaign shoot.
A collaborative shoot between Marc Jacobs and photographer David Sims, the designer said that he didn’t want to recreate his runway presentation, I feel that she does look Ship-’Wrecked’…pun intended!
CATHERINE DENEUVE, SOFIA COPPOLA, GISELE BÜNDCHEN, FAN BINGBING, CAROLINE DE MAIGRET AND EDIE CAMPBELL FOR LOUIS VUITTON
Marking the end of the ‘Marc Jacobs era’, the Louis Vuitton campaign features six of his muses including Catherine Deneuve, Sofia Coppola, Gisele Bündchen, Fan Bingbing, Caroline de Maigret and Edie Campbell. Captured by photographer Steven Meisel, the black, feathered looks from the Spring runway show are highlighted in the campaign.
Maybe it’s me, but don’t the dark moody images evoke a sense of reminiscence, nostalgia almost?
JAMIE DORNAN FOR ERMENEGILDO ZEGNA
Another up-and-coming actor, Jamie Dornan, who is soon to reprise the role of the much fantasized Christian Grey (of the 50 Shades trilogy) looks every bit of the Business Tycoon in the latest Zegna campaign titled ‘The New Éminences Grises’ (which incidentally translates to ‘The New Power Brokers’) shot by the photographer-duo Inez and Vinoodh.
If this is a precursor to what we’ll get to see in the movie franchise, well then…*swoon*!
LADY GAGA FOR VERSACE
The avant garde singer and fashion icon known for being anything but subtle with her wardrobe choices, channeled the iconic Fashion designer Donatella Versace for the label’s Spring 2014 campaign.
Shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, I must admit that I like this avatar of Lady Gaga much better than any of her outrageous red carpet looks!
RIHANNA FOR BALMAIN
Not a completely shocking collaboration, after all Rihanna and Balmain's creative director, Olivier Rousteing are all about public display of admiration (for each other), but it has been a perfect fashion campaign. The perfect muse, RiRi looks every bit of a Balmain girl in this new campaign shot by the photographer-duo (who have been quite the favorites this season) - Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.
Only 2 words…LOVE IT!
NICOLE KIDMAN FOR JIMMY CHOO
Looking almost unrecognizable is Nicole Kidman as she turns up the heat (and drops some clothes) in this new avatar for the Jimmy Choo Spring 2014 campaign.
The lens of famed photographer Sølve Sundsbø captures the Aussie actress in her fiercest best in this campaign titled ‘Nature Unleashed’!
BURBERRY / BURBERRY BRIT / BURBERRY PRORSUM
One of my favorite brands, Burberry’s ad/campaign shot by famed photographer Mario Testino features Twilight star Jamie Campbell Bower, musician Leo Dobson, models Malaika Firth, Matilda Lowther, Neelam Johal and Callum Ball along with royalty/newcomer Lady Jean Campbell.
My favorite part - the first time an Indian model (Neelam Johal) has been featured in a Burberry Ad campaign!
Model of the hour - Cara Delevingne, photographed by Tim Walker, paints a pretty picture of a classic round of English tea with some adorable farm friends.
With the floral prints, pastels and whites, the extremely talented model presents the cheery Spring collection beautifully and very delightfully.
‘Parental Advisory Explicit Content’ reads Anna Ewers’ top, which perfectly captures the intent and direction of this campaign. No there isn’t any vulgarity, but the subtle messaging reminiscent of the 90's (which was the general direction of the collection too), was captured all too well by Steven Klein.
An interesting campaign, but my only bone of contention - it looks like a repeat of the Saint Laurent Ad campaign with Marlyn Manson.
One of my favorite campaigns this Spring, Adriana Lima struts about with nonchalance, looking like an Amazonian seductress with her tribal print unaware of her follower…or maybe it is deliberation not nonchalance then?
Shot by Russell James, the Brazilian model adds that extra something that makes this campaign pop!
Well who doesn’t dream of crowd-surfing? Especially if the crowd is some incredibly cute, and incredibly shirtless boys? Not sure if that was necessarily the inspiration, but Tom Ford’s latest campaign, shot by the designer himself, with models Esther Heesch, Conrad Bromfield and Carlos Peters looks just like that dream!
Inspired or not, the campaign perfectly explicates everything Tom Ford - glamour, provocation, panache and of course high fashion - everything that Mr. Tom Ford’s personality evokes as well.
Captured beautifully in black & white, this campaign is something like a lesson in ‘Back to Basics’. Keeping it skillfully simple, Mario Testino captures Kate Moss looking like a perfect pin-up.
Can’t wait to see how this one translates in print- It’ll definitely go up on my pin-up board!
SAINT LAURENT, Spring 2014
So how do you up the ante after outrageously shot campaigns with well-known faces like Courtney Love, Marilyn Manson and Cara Delevingne? You scout for new faces! Photographed by Hedi Slimane, models Natalie Westling and Nastya Sten, in the continuing theme of Black and White imagery, wear the latest Saint Laurent womenswear collection.
The young models fit the theme perfectly, playing teenage girls, wild ones at that! Accompanying the campaign images is a video paced to “Teenage Girls” by Cherry Glazerr.
The best campaign by far! With beautiful products that remain the focus of the pictures and the hero of the story.
Shot by Eddie Wrey with Tamara Rothstein styling the campaign, Rupert Sanderson’s thoughts on this campaign was quoted as, “Snakes are very sensuous and there is a great association between fashion and reptiles. The exotic nature of the serpent combined with the sculptural quality of the marble setting has delivered us an immensely luxurious campaign”. And I agree!
So which is your favorite? If I missed it...I'd like to know!
